I always see these amazing gingerbread houses in magazines and on the internet....well, here's a little tutorial on how to make a gingerbread house that looks like those Christmas light houses we used to ooh and aah over as children.....
Start by having the one year old help dad with the green frosting for the tree. It ensures that it will get everywhere and in every crevice conceivable.
Let the four year old do the gingerbread men. It keeps her entertained long enough for the older brothers to start on the house and lessens the chance of a tantrum.
Plenty of extra candy left over from Halloween ensures the highest level of creativity!
Continue to let Dad figure out the green frosting. It is good for him and makes him appreciate all the cakes you've decorated over the last year. The one year old will be whining at this point for some sugar and it is probably best to feed it to her S...L...O...W...L...Y...so she doesn't sugar up and not sleep!
Meanwhile, the older boys will be hard at work putting the candy on the house. This is freestyle art time...it's a blast listening to their comments!
Oldest child will definitely have his say as to where the candy goes. Luckily, this is a fun project and younger siblings are glad to aquiese.
Tasting is mandatory....
Good eye and hand coordination practice for those little fingers!
If nothing else, remember how much fun they are having and what good memories this will be!

Oh my goodness Jenna- your new top header picture is SO incredibly adorable!
And now I'm wishing I'd bought the gingerbread kit at the store. I picked in up, put it in my cart, and then put it back on the shelf. But now after seeing how much fun you guys had- maybe I'll have to go back and get one!
It does look good with all that candy.
