A proud moment!

Xander has really worked hard on the flute the last few years.  When we left Flint Hill, one of the main reasons was so that he could have a good band experience.
We had that experience this year with District Band!
District band is where all the middle schoolers in your district compete for a few select spots and spend a few days rehearsing and then put on a concert for the parents and others.  The competition is fierce.  In Northern Virginia, it is really hard to get into district band.
Last year he auditioned and placed 17th out of 90 flutes.  Everyone told him that was really good for a seventh grader and that he should be so proud of 17th place.
Well, this year, I am proud to say, he placed second!  And the top flute only beat him by one point!  He was "over the moon" excited and had a wonderful experience!  He loved every minute of it and even had several solos.  I am so proud of him for working hard and doing such a great job.
Grandma Day, his flute teacher, and Mrs. Phillips, his band teacher were also proud of him.  We got rave reviews from the director also.  She commented on his ability and how well he did.

Great Job, Xander!  We love you!
